The Nordic nature in winter is unbelievably beautiful and rewarding but it can also be fierce and challenging, even plain dangerous. Fortunately, the knowledge and skills needed in hard winter conditions can be learned in safe and effective way. And at the same time you can experience memorable adventures and meet like-minded people!
The snow-covered sea of rolling woodland, the snow-veiled solitary hills, endless fields of ice and rugged snow-covered mountains may seem like distant dreams but you can achieve them all. Step on this path to fulfill your dreams!
Winter 2014
For the winter 2014 I will offer a varied set of courses and expeditions. There will be unforgettable adventures and you will learn knowledge and skills necessary to survive and enjoy the harshest of winter conditions.
Your guide on the courses and expeditions will be Jaakko “Korpi-Jaakko” Heikka, a qualified Wilderness Guide who has done ski expeditions and guiding for example in Svalbard, Iceland and Lapland.
Arctic Ski Expedition Training
The Arctic Ski Expedition Training is a series of courses and expeditions taking you step-by-step further in the Arctic Wilderness. On the Basic Course and Advanced Course the emphasis is on demanding ski expeditions in Arctic Scandinavia. In 2014 the Basic Course is available in English only on request but those with suitable experience can participate directly to bilingual Advanced course in March 2014.
In 2015 those who have completed the Advanced Course can continue on the track and head to the rugged wilds of Svalbard or to Iceland on the vast plains of the largest glacier in Europe. And there will be more for the forthcoming years. When heading north, only the North Pole is the limit!

Other Winter Activities: skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding
In addition to demanding ski expedition there is a lot more to do in the outdoors in winter! For the winter season 2014 I offer set of tours on skis, snowshoes and with dog sleds.
The “Ski Expedition into the Light” is a one-week expedition over the frozen plains of Lake Inari through the polar night to see the first sunrise of the year. As a specialty for winter 2014 I offer a one-week “Deep Winter Wilderness” package in the Northern Finnish wilderness including travel by snowshoes, skis and dog sleds! The “Ways of Winter Wilderness” is a course that gives you a change to learn and use a wide variety of tools and techniques suitable for traveling in the Nordic winter conditions. This course is excellent also for beginners as an introduction to Nordic Winter conditions.
