Last weekend my grandfather and I saw the movie The Black Phone based on the short story of the same name by Joe Hill. For those who don't know who Joe Hill is, he is Stephen King's son. The Black Phone is about a boy named John Finney who was kidnapped by the kidnapper known as The Grabber.Given the supernatural element to The Black Phone, it won't be a surprise to know that it's not based on a true story. However, Derrickson revealed that he was inspired by his own past.Both the movie and book are full of suspense, but they are not completely identical. The story was recently turned into a movie by director Scott Derrickson, scoring an 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The two versions of the story are quite similar, but they definitely have their differences.
