There are a lot of players passionate about both games, and which you play really comes down to personal preference. Generally, if you like strategy, character management, and a great story, Guild Wars 1 is probably the way to go, so long as you can get past it being an older game.
Is Guild Wars 2 good now : Yeah, it's probably worth it. GW2 is one of these games where old content is not always abandoned content, you still see really many players alking around in the older expansions, simply since it's still worth doing them. So the age of the game is not really a disadvantage.

What race is best for GW2 Warrior : Warriors,Elementalists and Thieves benefit the most from being a Norn simply for what itoffers these high damaging classes through Become the Bear and Becomethe Snow Leopard. Become the Bear, combined with a pure berserker stats,will deal some serious damage in the hands of these classes.
And these minions essentially serve as a constant tank for The Necromancer. So you can just whale away on enemies. And you don't have to really worry about much defenses.
