This series should never have been categorized as young adult. Though it is now considered an adult novel, I will continue to yell from the rooftops that this series is not acceptable if you are under 18 years old.

I think it wise to read this yourself first, and if you are unwilling to do so, or it's not your style – err on the side of caution and delay a year longer before recommending this to your child. I've just finished it and am happy to let my 15 year old read it.

Mbhabibti My honest opinion is I don't think ACOTAR is appropriate for anyone under the age of 18. Tawn I would say 16+ there are explicit scenes. Just not as much as the rest of the books in the series. andie I'd say 14/15 is ok for the first book but after that 16/17+.

If you do give it to a 14 year old, read it yourself first and be prepared to discuss the dark and violent themes. If your young person is not an easy talker, I would say no. Elizabeth It has a very graphic rape scene that disturbed me greatly.
