Is The Witcher 2 as good as Witcher 3?
Thanks to the scale, The Witcher 3 is much better at letting you just be in the world and explore, although the pacing of the plot can suffer due to the freedom of exploration. Neither game has a ton to do other than talk, kill, and loot, but the minigames are a worthwhile distraction. You won't miss much if you start from Witcher 3. There's a few characters that have side quests that you'll be confused on, but it's not that big of a deal. All of the important plot from Witcher 2 is given to you at the beginning of Witcher 3. Witcher 3 is better looking, much longer, and a bit more casual friendly. It's without a doubt one of the best story-driven RPG out there, if not the best. And that's coming from someone who has played RPGs since the 80's. OP, I disliked the first Witcher, but the second one is really better, I loved it, and the controls have changed immensely.

Is Witcher 2 combat like Witcher 3 : I'm sorry to say this but The Witcher 3 has the same combat system as part 2 and if you didn't like it, it's a mighty good chance that you won't like part 3.

Is The Witcher 2 hard

The combat is tough when you're just starting out. You must get the Position skill in the swordsmanship tree ASAP. Otherwise attacks from behind will deal 200% damage which will kill you very quickly. Be sure to use Quen to minimize damage you take.

You can skip The Witcher 1 and 2

The Witcher 1 and 2 aren't necessary in the slightest. This isn't to say they're not good games, but in order to start anew with its own canon separate from the books, CD Projekt Red gave Geralt amnesia at the beginning of the first game.

Is The Witcher 2 a hard game

From personal experience the Hard difficulty in Witcher 2 isn't that bad once you get the hang of the combat system. I felt it was easier than Witcher 1's Hard difficulty. You shouldn't have any problems playing Witcher 2 on Hard for your first playthrough.Powered by IGN Wiki Guides

The first two Witcher games are non-linear, which leads some people to think that means they're full open-world, and that's not quite the case. While both give the player little sandboxes to play in, with a good amount of sidequests, they aren't nearly as open as Wild Hunt.

I actually found The Witcher 2's combat a bit more difficult in some ways compared to Dark Souls, but I'm playing on the hardest difficulty. I can safely say I love both games and cannot wait for The Witcher 3 and Dark Souls 2. I love this game, but i think the hardest part of this game is the wierd enemy AI.

Is it OK to play Witcher 3 without playing 1 and 2

So in other words, storywise it doesn't make any difference which games you do or don't play before Witcher 3, because Witcher 3's story will still be a mess in every & any case. I never played Witcher 1 & 2 and didn't feel like Witcher 3's story is a mess. And obviously hundreds of thousands of people didn't.

It is definitely shorter… Witcher 1 took me about 50 hours. This one took about 35-40… I tried to explore everything so you could run through it faster if you so desired. It starts out hard and gets much easier as things go on. Most of the difficulty comes from them not doing a very good job of explaining how to play and lacking any kind of worthwhile tutorial. Once you figure out how to play its not so bad, and gets even easier as you gain more powerful abilities from leveling up.
