Stronghold Crusader was the best so far. It provided endless fun especially in the custom matches. The Campaign was never too good in my opinion in any of the Strongholds. However, playing against the AI or friends really was fun.

The blurb on the retail box should have been written along the lines of "We've run out of ideas, our artists forgot how to draw, and our programmers can't produce stable code anymore, but hey, a long, long time ago we made one really great game!" Overall best I'd have to say Stronghold Crusader 1 as that is the one before steam I had the most hours on.
