Arguably the funniest entry in the franchise, the first film is important in that it establishes Scott Lang (Rudd), a lovable loser and criminal who winds up being the new Ant-Man under the tough tutelage of original Ant-Man Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and his feisty daughter Hope (Evangeline Lilly).Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now streaming on Disney+. You don't need to watch any Phase Four titles or Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to understand this movie, but it's the end of a franchise, so you should be familiar with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Not caught up on Peter Quill's adventures in spaceAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania by itself was a decent, average movie that had its moments while also having their cringy moments also. But for the beginning/start-up of Phase 5, not going to lie: it sets up Phase 5 very well. Many feel the whole package is simply lackluster, with most of it looking rubbery and cheap—anything but convincing. It doesn't help that one key character is an odd-looking floating head. Even its lead villain, who has a practical suit, is victim to subpar VFX work in every action scene he dominates.

If you've already seen every Marvel movie, you might want to rewatch them in chronological timeline order. Meaning, the event that occurred first in the timeline—say, Steve Rogers/Captain America living during WWII—comes first. Most other MCU films have been able to strike a balance between humorous and dramatic but this one leans so heavily on its dark tone that it is simply not fun to watch at times. If the filmmakers wanted make a darker "Ant-Man" film, that's fine, but this is not the way they should have gone about it.I'm not sure of all the movies that you haven't seen from the MCU, but depending on what you haven't seen like the Iron Man movies, Captain America, Ant Man, the previous Avengers movies, Guardians of the galaxy, etc, I would recommend watching all of these movies so you can understand everything from Endgame.
