You won't miss much if you start from Witcher 3. There's a few characters that have side quests that you'll be confused on, but it's not that big of a deal. All of the important plot from Witcher 2 is given to you at the beginning of Witcher 3.So in other words, storywise it doesn't make any difference which games you do or don't play before Witcher 3, because Witcher 3's story will still be a mess in every & any case. I never played Witcher 1 & 2 and didn't feel like Witcher 3's story is a mess. And obviously hundreds of thousands of people didn't.On the other hand, The Witcher 3 is a fair bit more permissive, with combat being smoother and faster, fitting in better with the open-world, free-roam structure. Geralt is also more resilient and quick healing with potions is more of an option than it was in TW2, which required you to drink all potions ahead of time.
Do I need to have played the Witcher to play The Witcher 3 : Do you need to play the first two Witcher games to enjoy Witcher 3 No, but does does help fill in certain gaps relating to the main story and side quests.
Is Witcher 3 connected to witcher 2
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt takes place around half a year after the events of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, but a lot of action occurs in this short interim.
Are Witcher 1 and 2 worth it : OP, I disliked the first Witcher, but the second one is really better, I loved it, and the controls have changed immensely. You may or may not like it, but don't let the first Witcher's controls throw you off, they're not there anymore. It feels more like a Mass Effect with swords now, gameplay-wise.
Yes, you can. But I don't recommend you to because you won't understand a lot of stuff in this game if you haven't played previous titles yet.. I would recommend you to watch some videos at least, so you'll start playing The WItcher 3 with all (or almost) information that you need.
You can skip The Witcher 1 and 2
The Witcher 1 and 2 aren't necessary in the slightest. This isn't to say they're not good games, but in order to start anew with its own canon separate from the books, CD Projekt Red gave Geralt amnesia at the beginning of the first game.
Is The Witcher 2 hard
The combat is tough when you're just starting out. You must get the Position skill in the swordsmanship tree ASAP. Otherwise attacks from behind will deal 200% damage which will kill you very quickly. Be sure to use Quen to minimize damage you take.Several choices, items, and a small amount of money are transferred to the sequel and are accessible at the start of the game. A small percentage of your orens (about 1% of your saved game from The Witcher added to the standard ~ 150 orens of a fresh game).Yes, they're all related. Witcher 1, 2, 3 and any DLC in-between all take place in the same universe and in some instances choices you make in one game carry on into the other.
Skipping to it (Assuming you're not done the witcher 1) wont be that bad, youll get the references to the game that they throw off during the begining of the witcher 2 which will be good.
Is The Witcher 1 outdated : The original Witcher game is somewhat outdated in places by 2024's standards, perhaps headlined by its mouse and keyboard-only support with matching combat.
Is The Witcher 2 harder than Dark Souls : I actually found The Witcher 2's combat a bit more difficult in some ways compared to Dark Souls, but I'm playing on the hardest difficulty. I can safely say I love both games and cannot wait for The Witcher 3 and Dark Souls 2. I love this game, but i think the hardest part of this game is the wierd enemy AI.

The Witcher 2 Improves The Series But Still Isn't Witcher 3
The story is much longer and is separated into five chapters (including the Prologue and Epilogue). The game begins with King Foltest starting a war to reclaim his illegitimate children before being assassinated by a witcher assailant.
The Witcher 3 for example, takes six months after the events of The Witcher 2 ended. During that time, tons of crazy things have happened that drastically changed the state of the game world. That's why it's understandable why players get disoriented or bewildered even if they came from the 2nd game.It is definitely shorter… Witcher 1 took me about 50 hours. This one took about 35-40… I tried to explore everything so you could run through it faster if you so desired.
Why is The Witcher 2 so difficult : The combat is tough when you're just starting out. You must get the Position skill in the swordsmanship tree ASAP. Otherwise attacks from behind will deal 200% damage which will kill you very quickly. Be sure to use Quen to minimize damage you take.
