Is it necessary to play Witcher 1 before 2?
You can skip The Witcher 1 and 2

The Witcher 1 and 2 aren't necessary in the slightest. This isn't to say they're not good games, but in order to start anew with its own canon separate from the books, CD Projekt Red gave Geralt amnesia at the beginning of the first game.So in other words, storywise it doesn't make any difference which games you do or don't play before Witcher 3, because Witcher 3's story will still be a mess in every & any case. I never played Witcher 1 & 2 and didn't feel like Witcher 3's story is a mess. And obviously hundreds of thousands of people didn't.Yes, they're all related. Witcher 1, 2, 3 and any DLC in-between all take place in the same universe and in some instances choices you make in one game carry on into the other.

Should you start with The Witcher 2 : If you skip Witcher 2, you miss out on plot that carries into the Witcher 3, one can make poor choices based on the situation one is placed into in the Witcher 3 because they're unaware of the story and why or how things happened.

Can I skip Witcher 1 and play witcher 2

Skipping to it (Assuming you're not done the witcher 1) wont be that bad, youll get the references to the game that they throw off during the begining of the witcher 2 which will be good.

Is The Witcher 1 necessary : It's not mandatory. Witcher 1 is a very different game mechanically from the others, though, so you might want to do that first and then play the other two. That's only if you plan on playing all three no matter what.

Does Witcher 1 and 2 follow the books

Ultimately, The Witcher games take place several years after both the books and Netflix's The Witcher. However, The Witcher games are also incredibly faithful to the books in the way they represent Geralt's world overall. On the other hand, The Witcher 3 is a fair bit more permissive, with combat being smoother and faster, fitting in better with the open-world, free-roam structure. Geralt is also more resilient and quick healing with potions is more of an option than it was in TW2, which required you to drink all potions ahead of time.It is definitely shorter… Witcher 1 took me about 50 hours. This one took about 35-40… I tried to explore everything so you could run through it faster if you so desired.

The Witcher 3 for example, takes six months after the events of The Witcher 2 ended. During that time, tons of crazy things have happened that drastically changed the state of the game world. That's why it's understandable why players get disoriented or bewildered even if they came from the 2nd game.

How many hours is Witcher 1 : about 35½ Hours

Does The Witcher 1 carry over to 2 : Several choices, items, and a small amount of money are transferred to the sequel and are accessible at the start of the game.

Why did Henry Cavill leave The Witcher

Neither Cavill nor the show's creators have given a reason for his departure. However, in 2021, Cavill told the Philippine Star that he struggled to find a "balance between the showrunners' vision and my love for the books," and asked for several changes to his character in season two.
