Actually, it is hated precisely because it's not a Hitman game. In Absolution, the action is not about 47 traveling around the world in different places and assassinating people. In fact, the vast majority of missions in the game are not even about assassinating people…Its worth it. I am a long time fan of the series and managed to get the 'silent assasian' rating on most levels for all the Hitman games which makes me a hardcore fan I guess. I really liked Absolution. If you play it as a third person shooter, which you can on the easier difficulties, it will be disappointing.Youll be happy, Blood money and Silent Assassin are the 2 best entries in the franchise. Absolution is more stealth, not funnyness. Blood money is more funny. Blood Money gives you missions that are open to however you want to play it, Absolution is more linear and story driven, if not more technical.
Why is Hitman: Absolution so good : Absolution was indeed good and brought a lot of great mechanics to the series like an ability to subdue npcs. It is an evolution of these games in many way but people hated bad plot and everything related to disguise/instinct in that game even though it made sense to have it the way it was.

Is Hitman: Absolution easy : Don't go in easy, otherwise you may get carried away with the shooter aspect. And it's no fun when the AI are so forgiving. With that in mind, I would suggest Hard or Expert to those that are familiar with stealth games or the Hitman series.
