Tokyo, September 30, 2022 — Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501, "Hitachi") today announced that it has signed a share transfer agreement with ABB Ltd (SIX: ABBN, "ABB") to acquire 19.9% of the shares of Hitachi Energy Ltd. ("Hitachi Energy"), a consolidated subsidiary, from ABB to make the company a wholly owned subsidiary.ABB has reached an agreement to divest to Hitachi, Ltd. (Hitachi) its remaining 19.9 percent equity stake in the Hitachi Energy joint venture that was formed from ABB's Power Grids business in 2020, with Hitachi holding a stake of 80.1 percent.Hitachi ABB Power Grids is evolving to become Hitachi Energy and broadens commitment to a sustainable energy future. Hitachi ABB Power Grids today announced that it will be evolving to become Hitachi Energy from October 2021.
