For this reason, players using gaming devices with limited storage must carefully manage their space allocation when installing and playing ARK. It should be noted that the standard game itself takes up about 100 GB of space, and that the total size can increase with additional maps and mods.ARK is a RAM intensive game though, and your PC should have at least 8 GB to be safe. With all the free DLC my ARK install comes in at 198GB.
How big is ARK gb on steam : Base game is 125GB. 435 is with all DLC. Surely you're not playing on all of the maps concurrently
Is ARK 400 GB
Fact Friday 💡 The biggest game of all time in terms of file size is Ark: Survival Evolved, which requires 400 GB of storage.
Why is ARK 130 GB : Stoltverd you can't avoid the addons as a portion of them are already part of the base main game code, reason is for cross server transfers and the rest of the addons download contains the map files which you don't have to download if you don't plan to play them, so the 130 gig needed is for download, extraction and …
It's big because developers don't really care anymore about space, not just in gaming. Space is easy to increase and cheap, but performance is expensive and hard to optimize. UE games are often pretty big, Tekken 7 ~ 75 GB, Borderlands 3 ~ 110 GB and so on. Better expect this won't change in recent future.
The game itself isn't 300gb, it's the game AND all the maps, so if you don't want to spare 300gb, then you need to disable the maps you don't want from your library.
