The average duration for a sedate Top of the Rock Experience is around 45 minutes to 1 hour.
You will have to undergo a tight security check before entering.
There are 2 types of tickets one can purchase – Timed tickets and Unscheduled tickets.
We visited on a bright sunny day and could see for miles. We spent time on both observation platforms, conveniently there are gaps in the glass wall through which a camera lens can fit for unobstructed photos of the city. Definitely worth the visit.

Would recommend Rockefeller observation deck instead of Empire State Building (only half the price, less people, great views to Central Park and Empire State Building). Rockefeller Center!
