How many pages are in the picture of Dorian Gray : I got a Kindle for Christmas and have been really enjoying the Amazon classics range. I downloaded the picture of Dorian Grey last night with intention to start today and when I opened the book and the about the book notes come up it says the whole book is 71 pages.
Can a 13 year old read The Picture of Dorian Gray
This is helped by Wilde's relatively straightforward language, making it all the more readable. However, I would not particularly recommend it for anyone under 13 as the themes and comments on the values of individuals and society may not appeal as much to a younger audience.
Why is The Picture of Dorian Gray banned : It was censored in 1890 because of what was seen as its immoral sexual content, both heterosexual and homosexual in nature. According to Antonio Sanna, the heterosexual content was considered too vulgar for readers in the nineteenth century, and the homosexual content was considered sinful and illegal (Sanna 28).
How old is Dorian Gray at the end of the book 38. We are told that Dorian murders Basil on his 38th birthday in November, and the novel ends before the following November, so he is still 38.
In a sense, the ending of The Picture of Dorian Gray is quite bleak and without much of anything close to a happy ending. But perhaps Wilde was insinuating much more with the ultimate death of Dorian Gray. While his character does end up dying at the end of the novel, we are given an image of the untainted picture.
Who finds Dorian’s body
Dorian Gray dies when he stabs his portrait in an attempt to destroy it. His servants enter the room to find him dead on the floor, as ugly as his portrait once was, while the portrait looks beautiful once more.Dorian Havilliard is the crown prince of Adarlan, the eldest son of the King of Adarlan and Queen Georgina, older brother of Hollin Havilliard. It was censored in 1890 because of what was seen as its immoral sexual content, both heterosexual and homosexual in nature. According to Antonio Sanna, the heterosexual content was considered too vulgar for readers in the nineteenth century, and the homosexual content was considered sinful and illegal (Sanna 28).
However, I do not encourage students younger than 18 to read the book for its sexual, suicidal, and other heavy content.
Why doesn t Dorian get older : Newly understanding that his beauty will fade, Dorian expresses the desire to sell his soul, to ensure that the picture, rather than he, will age and fade.
What is Dorian Gray syndrome : Dorian Gray Syndrome (DGS) denotes a cultural and societal phenomenon characterized by an excessive preoccupation with the individual's own appearance (dysmorphophobia) accompanied by difficulties coping with the aging process and with the requirements of maturation.
Why is Dorian Gray evil
Now that Dorian has corrupted other people and committed murder, he knows that he has fully given up on trying to live a good life and can be considered evil. In his mind's eye he sees Basil, who appears as a timeless paragon of goodness, as well as memories of his former life, and Dorian cannot bear the guilt.

Sibyl Vane – a talented actress and singer, she is a beautiful girl from a poor family with whom Dorian falls in love. Her love for Dorian ruins her acting ability, because she no longer finds pleasure in portraying fictional love as she is now experiencing real love in her life.Character Information

Did Basil and Dorian kiss : Instead of subtly leading Basil to his confession, Dorian steers the conversation away by kissing Basil, who eventually gives in to his passion and succumbs to a sexual encounter.
