While Fear 2 is better in many ways, it does somewhat lack it's predecessor's charm. The world was much more immersive for me and you were able to interact with it better. When your in a fire fight the area shows the scars. Not so much in Fear 2. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is one of the best horror FPS games ever released. I haven't played part 1 or 3, but maybe, I will in the future. Overall rating: 8.5.

Unfortunately, F.E.A.R. 3 is a prime example of a game that can't decide what it wants to be. In trying to be an intense horror campaign and an intricate co-op/multiplayer experience at the same time, it winds up being neither and pleasing no one. Besides that and some technical issues, Layers of Fear 2 is another horror masterpiece and improves on what the original accomplished. The jump scares are a bit overdone, same as the original Layers of Fear, and there's an abysmal chase sequence in the second act that could've been cut completely.You can play however you choose but playing the story has you play in the way the games were released. You'll be going through the game timeline of layers of fear.
